Dr. Liz Branden is a world-renowned, teacher, scholar, and leader who has overcome a serious mental illness and turned tragedy into triumph. Never expected to be able to work again after a psychotic break in 2004, she came back stronger than ever and dealt head-on with one of the most devastating diagnoses: schizophrenia. Her story and her journey are inspiring, motivating, and filled with wisdom on how to face down some of life’s most challenging moments.
As a professional educator and writer, she has a way of engaging audiences in her narrative that bring hope, guidance, and comfort. Her lived experience with serious mental illness offers enlightenment to people in all walks of life, especially those who have friends, colleagues, and family members who live with mental illness every day.
Still working full-time as a successful academic, Liz now wants to lend her advocacy to anti-stigma around schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses and help employers and the general public understand how to support people who face challenges with their mental health.
